SYNOPSIS
 
Tim Kearney (Paul Walker) is an ex marine. He's already in jail for the third time. There, he troubles another prisoner, Mad Dog (Chuck Lydell), who try to kill him, but Kearney notice his intention, and react killing McDouge first. His life was sealed. But, Kearney’s offered by DEA agent Tad Gruzsa (Laurence Fishbourne) to play within a deal of the DEA, where he's going to be the drug dealer Bobby Z (Jason Lewis), since this deceased recently in a embassy in Thailand. He is to be exchanged for another DEA agent to the Mexican drug mafia and if the following escape succeeds to him, he shall be clean and free.
 
But at the exchange Gruzsa wants all the witnesses, especially Kearney, death. Kearney however at this moment falls over a small stone, so the plan fails and a shooting is inflamed. Kearney survives and, supposly to be the real Bobby Z, brought to the messuage of Brian Cervier (Jason Flemyng), a winegrower, who co-operates with the drug mafia. There he shall meet the boss Don Huertero (Joaquim de Almeida) who wants to make a deal with the real Bobby Z. By Elizabeth (Olivia Wilde), one of the Bobby’s ex- girlfriends, who lives together with Bobby's son Kit (J.R. Villareal) on the messuage, Kearney experiences that Don Huertero in fact wants to kill Bobby Z.
 
At the same time, Gruzsa rushes also still another gang of bikers, friends of McDouge, on Kearney, which has him still on their bill. Kearney could only escape with Kit, faceing thereby however again and again on adversaries of one of the two sides, trying to survive.

The film was produced by Brandon Birtall, friend of Paul, and co-owner of the Be Good Production.
 
Initially, the film was going to be released theatrically by Warner Bros., who have a first look deal with Millennium Films, but after the film tested poorly, WB decided to pass. Sony picked it up as a direct-to-video feature.
 
Roger Worthington donated the $20,000 fee paid by BZ Productions, Inc. for the use of his home in Dana Point to mesothelioma medical research, to mark the anniversary of  Steve McQueen’s death in 1980.
 
After working in Bobby Z both Olivia Wilde and J.R. Villareal work in Dr. House, Olivia as “Thirtheen” in the 4° Series, J.R. as guest in the 3° series.
