FAST FIVE SHOOTING IN ARIZONA

According to Comingsoon.net, Fast Five, the fifth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, will shoot in Puerto Rico from July to August.
Streets, neighborhoods and local offices will fill in for Brazil where most of the plot takes place.
In the film, Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) return as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen. They are joined by Dwayne Johnson, TJ Hassan, Tego Calderon and Don Omar.
Currently, the movie is filming in Parker, AZ through July 8th.
A location scout for Universal Pictures, Justin Besemer, has been roaming La Paz County and the California area for three weeks trying to find the right scenery for "Fast and Furious 5."
The Parker Area Chamber of Commerce was contacted by a studio representative April 7, who said a film crew would be in the area approximately May 24 to July 8. Besemer said the locations would be for the Second Unit Production of the film. He noted action shots would be filmed. "
We are looking at railroad land, and rail cars are being brought in from around the nation. There will be filming near the California towns of Rice, Vidal Junction and Vidal," Besemer said. Filming on relatively untouched land is a goal. Besemer has looked at county land upriver, at Parker South, Hope, the county fairgrounds and plans to look at the county landfill area. On the railroad land, there will be stunt work and some explosions.

PAUL SPOTTED @ BUTTON WILLOW RACEWAY

Collider interviews Neal H. Moriz, producer of Fast and Furious, about the 5th and 6th installments of the saga, and the remake of Highlander. Read the whole interview from Collider.com.
I report here some bullet points about Fast and the Furious:
·          They’re filming Fast Five this summer in Brazil, Rio, Puerto Rico, a little bit in Los Angeles and some in Atlanta
·          The cities being filmed in are part of the story
·          They’re developing the 6th film right now but they’re not shooting back-to-back
·          Paul Walker and Vin Diesel want to do the 5th and 6th films but they are not yet signed to the 6th
·          There’s going to be a lot of people from the previous Fast and Furious in the 5th movie. They are literally finalizing the script right now.
·          They’re not shooting Fast Five in 3D but “there’s a good chance the movie will be in 3D.”
·          Justin Lin is directing Highlander after Fast Five and they haven’t figured out if he’ll direct the 6th installment

REACT WITH SAVE THE WAVES IN CHILE

Other news from Chile. Save The Waves Coalition, operating though a passionate volunteer ground team led by professional surfers Ramon Navarro, Greg Long and Kohl Christensen, completed the first phase of its Chile relief efforts by distributing nearly 1,000 water filters to provide clean drinking water for up to 10,000 Chileans, many of who live in remote coastal areas and were cut off from clean water in the wake of the 8.8-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami on February 27, 2010. along with other essential supplies to coastal Chile. While Greg Long and crew were operating out of Pichilemu to the north, Save The Waves environmental director Josh Berry has been based further south in the Curanipe region, working alongside actor Paul Walker  and his REACT Worldwide team of doctors and medics, an organization that was founded by Walker. “The Save The Waves–REACT effort was an incredibly inspiring teamwork experience that combined Save The Waves’ years of field experience in Chile with REACT’s medical knowledge, fearlessness and energy for disaster relief,” said Berry. “Paul threw himself into the thick of the heaviest situations with passion and intelligence. The chemistry between the organizations was immediate and we’ll definitely be working together again.” The distribution of the water filters marks the completion of phase one of the relief efforts, which were primarily focused on getting clean drinking water to those who were cut off in coastal areas. Save The Waves’ phase-two work will begin shortly, focusing on helping coastal communities in Chile’s Regions VI and VII rebuild and restore economic activity, including potentially fishing, surf tourism, and other businesses.  Source:  http://www.savethewaves.org/

MEN'S HEALTH MARCH COVER & REACT

Paul Walker is featured on the cover of the March 2010 issue of Men's Health.
In the magazine he talks about staying fit, his  Indonesia retreat, and surfing. Not only, according to the article, Paul works with REACT (Rapid Emergency Assistance Care Team), a group of EMTs and health-care professionals that he helped found. The group's goal is to air-drop into disaster zones the minute the news hits the wires -- ahead of the larger, less mobile emergency teams. "I'm a doer, and whether it was the tsunami in Sri Lanka or the earthquake in Indonesia, I was always saying, 'I should be there; I should be helping out,'" Walker recalls. So he connected the dots. "My mother's a nurse, my sister's going to nursing school right now, and my friends have construction backgrounds. God willing, the next time there's a natural disaster I'm going to be there with 11 or 14 people and a handful of doctors," he says. "And the next time, it'll be 150 people with 30 to 35 doctors."

About it, the “next time” is now, in Haiti, where Paul and his friends helps to help build shelters and take care of injured children and women from the earthquake. You can find a video of their work, produced by Lucas and Brandon Birtell, here.

TWO MORE FAST AND FURIOUS FLICKS?

Vin Diesel recently updated his personal Facebook page (via AICN) giving us some news about the Fast and Furious's saga::
"If 2009's Fast And Furious was chapter one, what writer Chris Morgan just delivered is Chapter 2 and chapter 3. I have never been submitted a two story saga from a studio before... it is very exciting, and shows a commitment level that is hard not to respond to.Excited about the sexy locations the filming of this sag...a would take us... this novel like story, that has twists and unexpected turns that is authentic, truthful and challenging to the characters."
He doesn't give away an awful lot about the new plans - though you'd figure Paul Walker might be involved in some way.

EXPEDITION GREAT WHITE ARTICLES

Paul speaks of his  experience in Expedition Great White:
from Mother Nature Network
Having grown up idolizing Jacques Cousteau and briefly studied marine biology before acting beckoned, Paul Walker  was always interested in the mysteries of the oceans and its creatures, so signing on as a deckhand for National Geographic’s Expedition Great White was a dream come true. “I’ve seen and done a lot of really cool things, and I’ve never experienced anything quite like this, just the sheer awesomeness of a great white shark,” he says, though he admits with a laugh, “It’s put a damper on my surfing career.”
Premiering Nov. 16 at 9 p.m. as part of NatGeo’s second annual Expedition Week, the documentary follows a mission to catch a great white shark to install a tracking device and monitor its migration habits. “Sharks are an apex predator species and if their numbers are dwindling — it’s a pretty good indication of what’s going on in the ocean,” Walker explains. “They’re pretty easy to monitor because they’re at the top of the food chain and literally are at the surface of the water so they’re easy to count.”
Walker, who lives in Santa Barbara and often dives in the nearby Channel Islands, is on the board of the Billfish Foundation, which does similar tracking with marlins. “We’re going out on fishing trips but at the same time we’ve got satellites on them and taking DNA samples and releasing them,” notes the The Fast & The Furious star.

From ContactMusic.com:
FAST & FURIOUS star PAUL WALKER has fulfilled a lifelong dream by starring in a new TV documentary about great white sharks.
The actor spent 11 days off the coast of Mexico with a film crew and shark experts shooting footage of the sea monsters for National Geographic channel's Expedition Great White.
The former marine biology student admits the experts onboard for the mission weren't quite sure what to make of their Hollywood guest at first. He tells TV Guide magazine, "
They were like, 'S**t, we've got an actor coming on the boat.' It's that preconceived notion of Hollywood that I guess most of us deserve."
But the shark chasers quickly realised Walker knew just about as much as they did when he started talking about his love of sharks - and now he's joining another sea mission later this month (Nov09) - on the hunt for a giant squid.
Walker's shark mission airs in America on 16 November (09).

EXPEDITION GREAT WHITE ARTICLE

From TheNorthWestern.com:
At times, TV people think big, think broad, think ambitious. Now comes the extreme. Expedition Week  starts Nov. 15 on the National Geographic Channel. Combined, these seven documentaries go to the depth of the ocean (twice) and to Mars. They range from a century in the future to 100 million years in the past.Think of this as the new generation of what started on TV long ago. “Jacques Cousteau is my idol,”  Paul Walker said. “Period. I grew up watching his programs over and over.” .  Cousteau had underwater specials on ABC from 1968 to '76. He continued for two more decades, having an impact. “From the time I was really young, I wanted to be a marine biologist,” Walker said.
Life brings surprises, so he became an actor instead, starring in three
The Fast and the Furious movies. In his spare time, he works with the Billfish Foundation; that's how he ended up as a deckhand, helping catch, tag and release sharks for research purposes. The result? “We captured the three biggest fish (ever caught),” said Chris Fischer, producer of Expedition Great White. That hour airs on the second Expedition Week night (Nov. 16), following a different sort of documentary, Search for the Amazon Headshrinkers.
On Nov. 17-18, explorers seek the remains of Japanese super-submarines from World War II and the British ship Gallipoli from World War I. And the day before, Fischer's crew tries to hook and exhaust sharks. At one point, a 3,000-pound inflatable boat was being pulled by a 4,500-pound shark."
Seeing sharks close-up was impressive," Walker said. “It's put a damper on my surfing career.”

According to some sources, Takers release date was post-poned again to April 22, hope they will finally choose a day sooner or later!
